Live Recordings From A New Zealand Prison.
Prison songs is a project that involved recording prisoners' songs live in prison. This is the real deal. Songs captured straight from the heart. Prejudice can deafen us to many people's stories - perhaps none more so than prisoners - as though the walls separate them from the outside altogether. But this is not the reality. Everyone has a story to tell and deserves to be heard regardless of their background or situation. These songs were liberating for these men, because when they sang them, they felt free. Ironically, if you listen to these songs, you too may be moved. That is something that even walls can't stop.
Here are some of the songs...
'Smile' - D-Dub
'Shooting Star' - Villi
'You Play In My Heart' - Gaz

"This is an awesome way for these guys to finally express themselves on how they feel. This should have been done a long time ago. My son has also ended in jail and this would have helped him imensly."
"What an amazing cd these men have put together, Wow listening and reading the lyric's and poems brought a tear to my eye.
So many people are to quick to tarnish inmate's with the same brush and forget that they are still human and that they have feelings and they too hurt.
Way to go guys and i certainly hope that these guys keep up their excellent work and let their voice's be heard."
